Milton downs Oregon for first conference win; Fort, MG stay unbeaten

Milton High School blanked Oregon through the final three quarters Friday en route to a 33-14 Badger South footbalkl victory.

Milton improved to 1-2 in the Badger and 2-3 overall. Oregon fell to 0-2 and 1-4.

The Milton defense recorded six sacks for a minus-29 yards and held Oregon to two yards rushing on 31 attempts.

Josh Kummer gained 152 yards on 21 carries and scored a touchdown for Milton. Starting quarterback Evan Phillips completed a 43-yard touchdown pass to Riley Kovars before leaving the game with an injury in the second quarter.

Phillips completed 10 of 15 passes for 129 yards and backup Tyler Westrick completed 9 of 17 passes for 108 yards, including TD throws of 9 and 15 yards.

n Monroe 27, Stoughton 20—John Becker did it all for the Cheesemakers (1-4, 1-1), including ripping off a 75-yard punt return for the winning touchdown with 15 seconds to play in a Badger South victory at Stoughton.

Becker scored all of Monroe’s touchdowns. He gained 176 yards on 23 carries, including a 96-yard touchdown run.

Stoughton’s Tony Volk completed 18 of 27 passes for 258 yards, including TD passes of 20 and 37 yards, but the Vikings fell to 1-4 for the season.

n Monona Grove 27, Edgewood 7—Caleb Choate scored three touchdowns to lead the unbeaten Silver Eagles (5-0, 3-0) to the Badger South win over visiting Madison Edgewood (3-2. 2-1).

Edgewood’s third-quarter touchdown was only the second allowed by Monona Grove in five games.

n Fort Atkinson 48, Baraboo 20—The Blackhawks rolled over the host Thunderbirds in a nonconference crossover game.

Fort quarterback Drew Dunkleberger threw touchdown passes of 49, 11 and 55 yards to spark the route.

The Blackhawks improved to 5-0 overall as they get set to host Monona Grove in a Badger South first-place battle next Friday.

Baraboo’s only score came on a 83-yard kickoff return as the Thunderbirds fell to 2-3.
