Parker tennis gains sweep; Craig shutout
Janesville Parker's girls tennis team closed the Big Eight Conference dual season in impressive style Thursday afternoon.
Parker High won all seven matches in a 7-0 win over Madison
La Follette. The victory was the first in school history over La Follette.
"Our kids are going in the right direction, and that's what I'm most proud of," said Parker coach Justin Long, whose team finished 4-5 in Big Eight duals. "Any time you beat a team in our conference 7-0, that's saying something."
Parker's No. 1 doubles team of Maddie Theisen and Kristen Zeilinger improved to 18-0 on the season with a straight set win. Becky Harmata, Meghann Hoag, Megan Mitchell and Emma Frerichs won at singles for Parker. Karissa Haney and Rosalie Sellman, along with Ashley Lindsey and Elizabeth Severance, completed the sweep in doubles.
Parker hosts a seven-team invitational Saturday that features Milton, Lake Mills, Beloit Memorial, Lake Geneva Badger and Edgerton.
