— A decision on whether to close a Janesville elementary school might depend on how school board members measure the costs and benefits of closing a school.

School Board President Bill Sodemann says he's trying to decide which is worse: closing a school or cutting teachers.

A citizen committee recently recommended the school board not close any schools.

Sodemann says if you look at the numbers, Janesville has more capacity than it needs.

The school board is holding a public hearing Thursday night from 6:00 to 7:00 at Kennedy Elementary School.
