— Beloit residents might have fewer city employees on the job starting next year.

City Manager Larry Arft says the 2012 budget could include the elimination of about 12 positions. He says many of the positions being eliminated are already vacant.

The city might also make some positions part time and shift some employees to different departments.

The Beloit city budget took a hit from the state budget.

The city council learns more about the staffing situation when it meets Tuesday.
