— A crash Wednesday in rural Walworth County resulted in the Thursday death of a Janesville man.

Randall D. Duhr, 53, died Thursday at a Milwaukee-area hospital from injuries he sustained in a crash 24 hours earlier, according to a news release issued Friday by the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office.

At 9:02 p.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to reports of a crash with a man lying near the scene. The crash took place on County J west of Troy Center.

Duhr was driving a 1995 Ford Explorer west on County J when he lost control of his vehicle. It left the road, struck the guy wires for a utility pole and smashed into a tree before stopping in the ditch, according to the news release.

Duhr, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle.

It was not clear from the news release what caused Duhr to lose control, and the Gazette was not able to reach sheriff’s officials for comment Friday.

Duhr was taken by ambulance to the Town of Troy Fire Department and from there to a Milwaukee hospital, where he died the following day, according to the news release.
