Lake Geneva Badger tops Burlington
LAKE GENEVA Lake Geneva Badger’s powerful ground game get the best of visiting Burlington’s passing attack in a Southern Lakes football makeup game Tuesday night.
Peter Krien, Rory Klean and Chris Walker led the way as Badger High (2-1) built a 28-0 lead and held on for a 35-21 victory on strength of a 369-yard rushing assault in a conference opener that was rescheduled from last Friday.
Krien scored the first two touchdowns on 14- and 28-yard runs. He also had a 14-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter to finish off Burlington
(1-2) after the Demons had pulled within 28-21.
Krien rushed 14 times for 95 yards and completed two of three passes for 63 yards, including a 50-yard scoring strike to Jacob Kozlowski in the second quarter. Klean had 20 carries for 127 yards, including a 9-yard touchdown run, and Walker gained 105 yards on 13 rushing attempts.
Luke Syens rushed 12 times for 109 yards, including a 79-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, to lead Burlington’s ground game. Jayden Essman completed 14 of 28 attempts to give the Demons a 250-yard passing attack that included two touchdown throws.
