Janesville Craig, Parker soccer teams fall short
JANESVILLE Beloit Memorial High School scored two goals in the first half to send Janesville Craig to a 2-0 loss Tuesday in Big Eight Conference boys soccer.
Ben Goodwin scored an unassited goal at 33:27 and assisted on Julio Martinez’s goal 1:47 at 34:47.
Craig had two potential goals hit the post in the second half.
“One of those goals go in, and it’s a different game,” said Craig coach Charles Friedrich. “The boys played hard.’’
Craig travels to Fort Atkinson at 7 p.m. Thursday.

-- East 1, Parker 0—Jason Rice scored off a penalty kick in the 75th minute to lead Madison East to a Big Eight win over Janesville Parker.
Parker (0-6-1, 0-4) had chances but could not get a shot past goalkeeper Cory Lobue.
“We probably played our best game of the season,” Parker coach Andy Holmes said. “Jon made some great saves for us, and as a team, we moved the ball around pretty well.
“We’re getting better. That’s the most important thing.”

Beloit/Janesville Cup Standings as after this game: Beloit 6 points (2-0 record), Craig 1 point (0-1-1 record), Parker 1 point (0-1-1) with each team playing each other again. Beloit only needs two ties or one win to retain the Cup for the third straight year in what is the third season of the Challenge. Go Knights!! :)
