Janesville Craig soccer falls, Beloit blanks Parker

JANESVILLE — The first half is a killer for Janesville Craig’s boys soccer team.

Visiting Sun Prairie scored four times in the first 40 minutes and posted a 4-1 victory over Craig in a Big Eight Conference match.

“The story is the same,” Craig coach Charles Friedrich said. “We are a slow starting team, but come the second half, no team is even close to dominating us. We hold our own. We just have to figure out a way to get that intensity in the first half.’’

Sun Prairie scored on a penalty kick 42 seconds into the match.

“They score on a penalty kick at 42 seconds, and that’s very demoralizing,” Friedrich said. “We have to have better focus.’’

The loss drops Craig to 0-2 in the Big Eight and 3-4-1 overall.

Craig hosts Beloit Memorial at 7 p.m. next Tuesday.
