Ray, Gonzales power Beloit Snappers
BELOIT The Beloit Snappers’ final homestand of the Midwest League baseball season began with a win Thursday night.
Lance Ray and Michael Gonzales homered to lead Beloit to an 8-3 victory over the Peoria Chiefs at Pohlman Field.
Beloit jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on Ray’s team-leading 16th home run of the season.
Blayne Weller (6-6) earned the win with seven solid innings.
Game 2 of the series is tonight.
