— Many Beloit students are heading to a different school to start the school year today. Superintendent Steve McNeal says there are now two fewer elementary schools in the district.

The 10 remaining schools were converted into six Kindergarten through 3rd grade buildings and four schools housing fourth and fifth grades. McNeal says the conversion process has gone smoothly.

McNeal says the changes will resize the district to better use staff. He says it looks like enrollment in the elementary schools might be up a little bit this year.
