Whitewater's Kindler earns special teams honor
Eric Kindler’s superb kicking for UW-Whitewater’s top-ranked football team has hit home with the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Kindler is the WIAC’s special teams Player of the Week after kicking two field goals, including the game-winner from 17 yards with 1:18 remaining, as the visiting Warhawks remained unbeaten and gained the undisputed conference lead with a 20-17 victory Saturday over UW-Oshkosh.
The sophomore from Germantown had a 47-yard field goal in the second quarter, enabling the top-ranked Warhawks (7-0, 4-0) to battle from behind against the 20th-ranked Titans (5-2, 3-1). He also kicked off five times, with one resulting in a touchback and others going to the 1- and 2-yard lines, and was 2-for-2 on extra points.

The Warhawk junior had four shots, all on goal, and scored the only goal in her team’s 1-0, double-overtime win over UW-River Falls.
-- Jordan Myers, UW-Whitewater, women’s soccer, defense.
The Warhwks’ junior goalkeeper played 103 minutes, 57 seconds and made a team season-high 11 saves to preserve the 1-0, double-overtime win over River Falls.
-- Liz Amici, UW-Eau Claire, women’s volleyball.
Amici, a senior from Whitewater, played in 12 sets during the week to help the Blugolds gain a 5-0 record. She led the team with 42 kills and compiled a .476 hitting percentage, while also leading the team with 18 blocks.
A highlight included Amici’s career-high 18 kills in a 3-1 win over UW-River Falls. She made the all-tournament team after Eau Claire posted four 3-0 victories to win the Slagell Classic, hosted by Millikin University in Illinois.
