— A Janesville man remained hospitalized Tuesday for injuries from a fight involving 10 to 15 people Monday afternoon.

Edward Brown, 26, of 1315 Myra Ave., suffered facial fractures in the fight reported at 2:09 p.m. Monday at Linn and McKinley streets, Janesville police Sgt. Aaron Ellis said.

Brown was listed in fair condition Tuesday at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville.

The incident does not appear to be gang related, Lt. Tim Heirs said.

Police were told one person was unconscious and lying in the street, Ellis said.

"That subject was moved by his accomplice into a vehicle that was subsequently stopped by our officers at the Roman's 66 gas station, 108 Center Ave.," he said.

Hospital officials will notify police when Brown can be discharged because he is wanted on three bench warrants for failure to appear in court on prior charges, Ellis said.

The motive for the fight remains unknown, and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, Ellis aid.
