— The I-90 expansion project might be an opportunity for the city of Janesville to get more options for crossing the busy freeway.

Janesville associate planner Terry Nolan says they're working with the DOT to get more freeway crossings included in the I-90 project. The crossings include one at Bell Street, near the new Menards and another at Ryan Road between Wal-Mart and Morse Street.

There is also interest in a pedestrian and bike crossing at Racine Street.

The city is working with the state on the location and design of noise barriers that will be constructed when the I-90 expansion is built through Janesville.

The city is also working with the state to find ways to minimize the effect of the I-90 expansion project on city traffic.

Work on the freeway project is expected to begin in 2015.
