— A Janesville man is in custody after racking up his fifth arrest for driving while intoxicated and allegedly smashing his car into the brick wall of the apartment building where he lives on Saturday night.

Timothy J. Thoms, 52, of 830 Harding St. No. 106, also was cited for hit and run, driving after revocation/causing property damage and driving without insurance.

Officers were called at 10:30 p.m. after Thoms' small pickup truck hit another vehicle at the Kwik Trip, 254 E. Memorial Drive.

Thoms then is accused of driving to his nearby apartment building at 830 Harding St., where his vehicle crashed into the building and he allegedly left the scene. No one was reported injured.

Thoms later admitted to consuming prescription drugs just before driving, according to a Janesville police news release.

He then allegedly failed a field sobriety test.
