— Speed is suspected as a cause of a two-vehicle collision that killed a Janesville man at about 7:05 p.m. Friday, town of Beloit police reported.

John J. Hull Jr., 55, was pinned in the small pickup truck he was driving, according to a news release. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle, Vickie Helms, 41, of Beloit, was not injured. No one else was in the vehicles.

Both vehicles were northbound on Afton Road when Helms slowed to turn left onto Creedy Road. Hull’s small pickup truck hit Helms’ full-size SUV from behind, police said.

No citations were issued. The investigation is ongoing, police said.

Assisting town police were Rock County sheriff’s deputies and State Patrol officers.
