Monona Grove High School’s football team used a 28-point second quarter to clinch its third straight Badger South title Friday night.


The Silver Eagles built a 35-0 lead by halftime en route to a 42-0 victory over host Milton. Monona Grove finished 6-0 in the conference and is 8-0 overall.


Milton fell to 1-4 in the conference and 3-5 overall.


Caleb Choate threw for four touchdowns and rushed for a 73-yard score in the Silver Eagles’ 23rd straight conference victory.


Choate finished 13-of-16 passing and 104 yards rushing on just two carries.


James Conner caught three of Choate’s TD passes, covering 16, 28 and 26 yards. Connor had five catches for 99 yards.


The Red Hawks gained 191 total yards. Ian Johnson rushed for 56 yards, while Tyler Westrick completed 11 of 19 passes for 71 yards.

Tyler Courtier scored two touchdowns, while quarterback Drew Dunkleberger ran 24 yards for another and added a pair of two-point conversion runs to spark Fort Atkinson’s comeback.


The Blackhawks (4-1 in the Badger South, 7-1 overall) blanked the Cheesemakers in the second half. Fort dominated time of possession, 31:19 to 16:41.


Monroe (2-6, 2-3) took its halftime lead on Kevin Klopfenstein’s 31-yard field goal in the second quarter.
