— The driver of a pickup truck is accused of causing a head-on crash with a school bus Friday south of Janesville.

Rock County Sheriff's Office issued a news release Wednesday, saying the full-size pickup truck driven by John D. Lewis, 21, of Janesville crossed the centerline on West Happy Hollow Road, colliding head-on with the bus.

Deputies issued citations to Lewis for operating left of center; knowingly operating while suspended, causing injury; and not wearing a seat belt.

The accident occurred at about 7:35 a.m. on West Happy Hollow Road in Rock Township. The rising sun combined with a curve in the road might have played a role, officials said at the time.

The half-size Van Galder school bus was taking children and a bus aide to Jackson Elementary School.

Lewis and his two passengers were transported for non-life threatening injuries, as was bus driver Judy J. Brown, 66, of Rock Township.

The aide and all five children were transported to be checked for possible injuries, according to a news release. Two of the children, ages 4 and 7, were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
