Verona High School’s football, No. 3 in the AP large-school state ratings, scored five touchdowns in the first quarter en route to a 56-21 Big Eight Conference victory over Madison East on Friday night.


Verona, the undisputed Big Eight leader, improved to 7-0. East fell to 3-4.


Tyler Parker gained 50 yards on six carries and scored three touchdowns for the victorious Wildcats.

n West 33, Beloit 7—Beloit scored the first touchdown after recovering a Madison West fumble at the Regents’ 25-yard line on the second play of the game, but the Purple Knights could not maintain the momentum in a Big Eight battle of winless teams.


The victory lifted West to


1-6 in the Big Eight and overall. Beloit fell to 0-7.


Kishawn Brown scored on a 54-yard touchdown pass from Alex Brown to tie the game in the first quarter. Malcom Wilson scored the go-ahead TD on a 7-yard run in the second quarter.


Aquan Bell had five carries for 66 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown run, for West.
