Heldt leads Rattler women to victory, men fall

— Danielle Heldt scored a season-high 22 points to lead visiting UW-Rock County to a 57-45 victory Monday over UW-Manitowoc in Wisconsin Collegiate Conference women’s basketball.

Heldt scored 18 points in the second half to boost the Rattlers’ victory. Teammate Melissa Harnack added 10 of her 13 points in the second half and Rachel O’Leary finished with 10 rebounds.


The Rattlers trailed 27-24 at the half. UW-Rock built a 49-36 lead in the second half.


“Our pressure defense helped in the second half,” Rattlers’ coach Scott Lee said.


UW-Rock (4-4, 3-2) hosts UW-Washington at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

UW-Rock men fall

UW-Rock County tumbled 97-56 to UW-Manitowoc in nonconference men’s basketball Monday.


“They pressed us, and we turned the ball over a lot,” Lee said.


Jordan Young scored 14 points to lead the Rattlers.


Manitowoc made nine three-pointers.


UW-Rock (3-6, 1-1) hosts UW-Washington at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
