— Janesville School District officials are considering disciplinary action for a group of Marshall Middle School students who Tuesday posted false information on the Web about a bus crash and the death of a teacher.

Several middle school athletes are being investigated, Director of Administration and Human Services Steve Sperry told WCLO radio. The students have removed the comments from Facebook, Sperry said.

The school on Tuesday evening notified parents by telephone that the information was false, and the district wrote on its Facebook page that the information was false.

The students wrote in status updates and in comments that they were involved in a bus crash, that students were injured and that a teacher was killed, according to copies of the posts obtained by The Gazette.
