Venture capital legislation could get support of local state representative
Podcast Episode
WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on the Democrat's support of providing venture capital, but only with certain safeguards
A local state representative backs potential venture capital legislation.
State Senator Tim Cullen of Janesville tells "Your Talk Show" on WCLO, he supports the idea of the state investing in emerging businesses, if safeguards are in place. Cullen suggest the state only invest in new business ideas were private investors have already laid their money on the line. The Democrat says the professionals in venture capital know more about good investments.
Cullen says the idea is unusual because politicians often don't look past the next election, and new companies can take years to grow jobs. He admits the plan would take patience.
