Warhawks win basketball opener

Luke Knoble and the UW-Whitewater men’s basketball team got the season off to a strong start Friday night.


Knoble had 11 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Warhawks to a 56-37 nonconference win over Concordia (Ill.) University. Whitewater led 30-17 at halftime and pulled away in the second half.


Madison East graduate Chris Davis, an All-WIAC first-team selection a year ago, led Whitewater with 16 points.


The Warhawks were only


1-for-12 from beyond the arc, with 2011 Janesville Parker graduate Creed Knutson making the only one late in the game.


Whitewater plays Dominican University today at 4 p.m in River Forest, Ill.
