— A Janesville man was cited but not injured after his car crashed into a Janesville Fire Department truck Thursday.

Jordan M. Olson, 18, 538 S. River St., Janesville, was cited for failure to yield for an emergency vehicle and driving after revoked after his tan Buick sedan collided with a fire department ladder truck at the intersection of West Milwaukee and River streets, said Janesville Police Lt. Keith Lawver.

The department reported it had sent multiple emergency vehicles to a gas odor call at 209 Cherry St. at 3:20 p.m. Thursday. The fire truck, which was part of the response, was westbound on West Milwaukee Street when Olson, who was northbound on River Street, apparently drove into the intersection in front of the fire truck, Lawver said.

Olson had a green light and was approaching the intersection when he saw a westbound ambulance pass with its lights on, Lawver said. He then pulled out onto Milwaukee Street in front of the fire truck.

The driver of the fire truck had a red light, had reportedly slowed to a stop at the intersection and was coming off the stop when Olson pulled out, Lawver said.

No one was injured, and the fire truck appeared to have minor damages, Lawver said.

The gas smell call at Cherry Street was a minor incident, and other firefighters who arrived before the crash were able to handle the situation, according to the fire department.
