— A former city of Delavan police officer was ordered Monday to pay a $100 fine for lying to Whitewater police this spring while they investigated a battery complaint.

Aaron Myers, 32, of Fort Atkinson pleaded guilty in Walworth County Court on a charge of misdemeanor obstructing an officer. The charge stems from a May incident in which Whitewater police said Myers claimed to have no knowledge of a battery incident outside Toppers Pizza.

Police said surveillance video showed Myers, who was off duty, arrived and left with the suspect, 30-year-old Michael Stanke. Stanke faces a felony charge of substantial battery after police say he head-butted another man, chipping three of his teeth.

Myers was ordered by a Walworth County judge to pay $100 plus about $330 in court costs, according to court records. Delavan Police Chief Tim O'Neill said Myers resigned from his position last month after the department launched an internal investigation into the incident.
