November 4, 2011
— UW-Rock County basketball coach Scott Lee wants to schedule tough nonconference opponents for his Rattler teams to prepare them for the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference schedule.

He admitted the scheduling might have been too rigorous Thursday night.

Illinois Valley Community College handled both the men and women's team easily here. The Rattler men lost, 98-41, while the women lost, 88-24.

"Both games were over in the first five minutes," Lee said. "We were outmatched and overplayed. They are a higher level of a program."

Ryan Smith led the Rattler men with eight points. Lee complimented the floor play of Joe Benson on both ends of the court.

Danielle Heldt scored 15 points to lead the UW-Rock County women.

Both the men (1-1) and women (0-2) open WCC play at UW-Waukesha on Saturday. The women play at noon, and the men play at 2 p.m.
