Parkview no-hitter keys opening action

Rhianna Noble’s no-hitter highlighted Orfordville Parkview’s opening-round victory Thursday in WIAA Division 3 regional softball.


Noble, a junior, allowed only one walk and struck out 10 as the Vikings advanced to the regional semifinals with a 11-0 shutout of visiting Darlington in five innings.


Marissa Monk hit a three-run homer to pace Parkview’s offense.


Third-seeded Parkview (16-5) plays at second-seeded Cuba City on Tuesday.

Kate Brandl pitched a one-hitter and scored the only run as Clinton slipped past Whitewater, 1-0, in a Division 2 regional opener.


Brandl was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the sixth and avanced to second on Amanda Gilbank’s bunt single. Jordyn Ciochon followed with a single that drove in Brandl.


Molly Mesner’s leadoff single in the fourth was Whitewater’s only hit, but the Whippets drew three walks of Brandl.


Clinton (9-12) plays at Turner on Tuesday in a reguional semifinal game that pairs into the Evansville Sectional.

Big Foot (6-15) plays at top-ranked Edgerton in a regional semifinal Tuesday. That pairs into the Evansville Sectional.


-- Monroe 11, Mount Horeb 0 (5)—Chandra McGuire had two doubles, including one that drove in two runs, as the No. 2-seeded Cheesemakers advanced with a regional quarterfinal win over visiting Mount Horeb.


Becca Armstrong held the Vikings to one hit and struck out five.

East Troy (9-11) battled back from a 6-2 deficit with a four-run seventh that forced extra innings. Katie Ledwell had a two-run double, and Theresa Verick had an RBI single that tied the game at 6-6.


Pewaukee plays at top-seeded Union Grove on Tuesday in a regional final that is part of the Port Washington Sectional.

Sam Storms, a sophomore, dominated Living Word Lutheran with no-hit pitching that included 17 strikeouts as Williams Bay notched a 5-1 win in a Division 4 regional opener.


The Bulldogs had eight hits, all by different players. Storms had a triple, while Claudia Wautlet and Leah Newell each added a double.


Third-seeded Williams Bay (13-7) advances to a regional semfinal game Tuesday at Racine Lutheran or Faith Christian.
