— The Westside Regents took a 2-0 lead in the first quarter and never trailed on the way to a 7-3 victory over the Janesville Bluebirds in a Madison Area Lacrosse Association match at McGaw Park on Thursday.

The loss means Janesville ends the regular season on a five-game losing skid.

Jordan Dean fed Mitch Miller to bring Janesville to within a goal after the first quarter.

After a Regents goal, the Bluebirds’ Nick Krueger scored to make it 3-2, but the Regents answered before Dean scored to make it a 4-3 Westside lead at the half.

It was as close as the Bluebirds would get.

The Regents scored the next three goals before Janesville’s Trent Krueger scored late in the game.

Janesville goalie Ryan Johnson had 12 saves.

Janesville (4-10) now waits to find out who it will play and where in Tuesday’s first round of the state tournament.
