Beloit Snappers streak reaches eight

— Beloit continued to struggle, falling 5-4 to the Burlington Bees for its eighth straight loss in Midwest League baseball here Wednesday.

The Snappers could not hold a 3-1 lead. Burlington tied it in the fifth inning on two hits, an error and a sacrifice fly.


The Bees scored the winning run in the seventh on an RBI double off Snappers’ reliever Blayne Weller for a 5-3 lead.


Beloit scored its final run on Daniel Ortiz two-out single. Lance Ray went down on strikes to end the game.


Weller (3-2) took the loss, allowing two runs on four hits in two innings. The Snappers notched 10 hits, but left 11 runners on base.
