— Janesville Craig’s baseball team ran its winning streak to three games Tuesday.

Jameson Henning went 3-for-4 with three runs scored to lead the Cougars to an 8-4 Big Eight Conference win over Madison East at Riverside Park.

Craig High (11-13, 5-12) stole seven bases and took advantage of four East errors.

“We’re on a little roll right now, and I hope it continues,” Craig coach Vic Herbst said. “The shoe was on the other foot tonight, as we were able to take advantage of a couple errors.

“We got some clutch hits, and Brandon Hughes gave us a solid start on the mound.”

East led 2-1 in the top of the third before Craig took the lead with two in the bottom of the inning. With game tied at 4-4 in the fifth, the Cougars scored three times to put the game away.

Tom Yaucher added two hits and scored two runs for Craig.

Hughes, a sophomore righthander, allowed three earned runs and allowed no walks in 5-plus innings.

The Cougars conclude the Big Eight and regular season at Madison West on Thursday.
