Janesville Parker High School’s boys golf team picked a good day to fire its second-lowest round of the season.

The Vikings shot 330 on Tuesday to finish second at the WIAA Division 1 Elkhorn Regional at Evergreen Golf Course and earn a berth in next Tuesday’s sectional at Hawk’s View in Lake Geneva.

Lake Geneva Badger won the eight-team regional title at 321, while Beloit Memorial (343) and Janesville Craig (346) joined the Badgers and Parker as the four teams that earned sectional berths.

Burlington’s Jackson Ward was the medalist with a 4-over-par 76 in becoming one of four individual sectional qualifiers.

Parker, which got an 81 from Peyton Graham and Taylor Braun, had shot 328 at the Ashenfelter Invitational earlier this month.

“We live for another day,” Parker coach Ron Cramer said. “It was actually a good day for Parker golf. The kids played well.

“We have three kids that are capable of shooting in the 70s, and they were close today. Hopefully, we can play well at the sectional meet.”

Dustin Richards added an 83 for the Vikings, and Tyler Brossard rounded out the scoring with an 85.

Tanner Woodman had an 83 to lead Craig. Jim Leute chipped in an 85, and Jordan Gagg finished with an 86.

Elkhorn’s Brock Poggensee (80), Fort Atkinson’s Tyler Glass (82) and Burlington’s Jake Sullivan (86) joined Ward in advancing to the sectional as additional qualifiers.
