Led by medalist Andrew Morrison, Edgerton High’s boys golf team finished second Tuesday at the WIAA Division 2 Big Foot Regional at the Geneva National Trevino Course.

Madison Edgewood won the 10-team title with 314, while Edgerton was one-shot back at 315. McFarland (330) and Monroe (344) also advanced to next Tuesday’s Evansville Sectional at the Evansville Golf Club.

“It was an excellent feeling when we found out we were one shot behind a program like Edgewood’s,” first-year Edgerton coach Curtis Koch said. “It opened the boys’ eyes that we can contend with anyone.’’

Morrison, a sophomore, had nines of 38 and 37 en route to winning medalist honors. Edgewood’s Steffen Lake also fired a 75, but Morrison won the tiebreaker based on the scorecard rollback.

Koch had confidence Morrison, the Crimson Tide’s No. 1 man, could handle regional pressure.

“Morrison is a sophomore, but he shows the maturity of a senior,” Koch said. “He was striking the ball better than he had all year. I can’t count the missed putts he had within 15 feet for birdie.’’

Freshman teammate Drew Pipik finished one stroke behind Morrison with a 37-39—76, while freshman Brooks Johnson and sophomore Erik Danielson each carded an 82 for the Crimson Tide.

“The biggest concern on our schedule was it never allowed for a practice round (at Geneva National), so we had to go on hearsay,” Koch said. “But we’ve been a good invitational team. We did not finish outside the top five in any of our invitationals.’’

Kyle Bruce had a 78 to help Monroe advance to the sectional meet, while Evansville’s Bobby Luchsinger (80), Walworth Big Foot’s Paul Littig (81), Orfordville Parkview’s Jared Masterson (86) and Clinton’s Eric Gunderson (87) advanced as additional qualifiers.

Jefferson, led by Sam Nevins’ 78, finished third at the Division 2 Jefferson Regional at Koshkonong Mounds and advanced to the Campbellsport Sectional at Camelot.

Delavan-Darien (358) also advanced out of the Jefferson Regional, along with East Troy’s Sebastian Smith (85).

Williams Bay’s Lawrence Crement advanced as an additional qualifier out of the Division 3 Madison Abundant Life Regional at The Bridges in Madison.
