Elizabeth Conejo proved too tough to handle Thursday night for Janesville Craig’s girls soccer team.

The Sun Prairie sophomore scored three goals to lead the Cardinals to a 3-1 Big Eight Conference win over the Cougars.

Craig (9-9, 3-5) tied the game at 1-1 on Chelsea Sheedy’s goal at 28:14 of the first half, but Conejo scored twice in the second half.

“Conejo’s a very nice player,” Craig coach Bill McCabe said. “She does everything well. She’s quick, passes well and really sees the field.

“She got away from us a couple of times in the second half, and that was the difference.”

Craig plays at Lake Mills in a nonconference game today.
