New scoreboard set for Pohlman Field
The board will be put in during the all-star break in June.
“We are very excited to be getting a new scoreboard, it will not only enhance the fan experience here at Pohlman Field, but also gives people that come to the ballpark a great first impression,” General Manager Jeff Vohs said in a press release.
The current scoreboard was installed in the early 1980s. Many lights and parts of the board rarely work.
The new scoreboard will feature new line scores, at bat, ball/strike, hit/error spaces along with electronic team names. It will be 9-feet by 38 feet and have a black base with red energy-efficient LED letters and numbers.
Vohs said the scoreboard will be ready for the Wisconsin High School Top Prospect Showcase and the American Legion state tournament set for Pohlman Field this summer.
It will also add to the games played at Pohlman by Beloit Memorial High School, Beloit College and the Beloit Legion.
All-American Scoreboard Company, a division of Everbrite located in Greenfield, will produce and install the new scoreboard. The company was the first to install a scoreboard at Yankee Stadium and constructed the scoreboard at old County Stadium in Milwaukee.
Installation will take three days, including taking out the old board. The work will be done during the first week of June, when the team is on the road in Dayton and Bowling Green.
A “Pohlman Field Scoreboard Raffle” will be held to help fund the scoreboard. Top prize is $1,000 with second, third and fourth place winners taking home $500, $200 and $100, respectively.
Tickets are $5 each or five for $20. Tickets can be purchased at any Snappers home games of by contacting the Snappers office at (608) 362-2272. The drawing will be held after the Snappers game on Monday, July 4th. You do not need to be present to win.
