Traffic stops result in arrests, drug seizures

— The Janesville Police Department reported two felony arrests and the seizure of illegal drugs and stolen property during a series of special traffic stops Saturday in Janesville.

The stops were part of an enforcement effort in conjunction with the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Milwaukee High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area task force.

The effort focused on highway safety and intercepting illegal drugs transported into the city of Janesville. It targeted Highway 51 and Center Avenue between the Highway 11 bypass and the Five Points intersection.

The effort resulted in 57 traffic violation stops, which resulted in 81 warnings and 28 traffic citations. In addition, police reported 11 arrests including two with felony charges.

Officers also reportedly seized undisclosed quantities of marijuana, synthetic marijuana, drug paraphernalia and property purportedly stolen during vehicle thefts.
