— Christina Pape Klawitter will be Beloit College’s next dean of students.

Klawitter, an alumna of the college, will return to the school this summer after more than 12 years at UW-Madison, where she is assistant dean for academic progress in the College of Letters & Science.

Klawitter will be Beloit College’s first new dean of students in more than 31 years. She will replace Bill Flanagan, who announced last fall that he was transitioning into a new role at the college after 31 years as dean.

Klawitter earned a doctorate in educational leadership and policy analysis at UW-Madison and a master’s degree in counseling with an emphasis in higher education.

Klawitter graduated magna cum laude from Beloit College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and legal studies. She was a senior class commencement speaker and a two-sport athlete at Beloit.

Klawitter was a four-year letter winner in both basketball and softball. She earned First Team All-Midwest Conference honors four times and was named the basketball conference player of the year as a senior. She was inducted into Beloit’s Athletic Hall of Honor in 2010.
