One running against incumbent in Lake Geneva City Council race

Bill Cousino

Bill Cousino will take one more shot at defeating Ellyn Kehoe for a spot on the Lake Geneva City Council.

The two faced off in 2010 for the District 1 seat after Alderman Spyro "Speedo" Condos resigned in fall 2009. The election was for a one-year term, and Kehoe came out on top, 212 to 177.

Cousino was the only candidate to file in opposition of Kehoe. Neither responded to requests from the Gazette to discuss their campaigns. The below information is from Gazette files:

Job: Owner of Rockwood Studio, Lake Geneva, and a retired nurse.

Education: Practical nurse diploma from Theda Clark Hospital, Neenah, 1952; associate degree in medical office management from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, Green Bay, 1976; bachelor's degree in health care administration from St. Norbert College, De Pere, 1978; master's degree in education from UW-Whitewater, 1982.

Community service: Collections for the Lake Geneva food pantry, served on the Lake Geneva Board of Appeals and a former member of the Wisconsin Small Business Advisory Committee.

Elected posts: Incumbent on the city council.

Address: 302 Maxwell St., Lake Geneva.

Job: Sales representative, Southern Lakes Plumbing and Heating, Elkhorn; bartender and server, Lake Geneva Cruise Line, Lake Geneva. Former member of the Lake Geneva and Elkhorn fire departments and the Walworth County Hazardous Materials Team.

Education: Served in the U.S. Coast Guard, 1982-1987; attended the U.S. Coast Guard law enforcement/firefighter school, Yorktown, Va., 1983; attended the U.S. Coast Guard radio telecommunications school, Petaluma, Calif., 1983; attended the Chicago fire department/paramedic academy, 1988; bachelor's degree in soil science and horticulture from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Ill., 1992; certified firefighter.

Community Service: Member of the Lake Geneva American Legion; contractor for Habitat for Humanity of Walworth County; former youth football and baseball coach; former organizer for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
