— Residents should not place rummage sale and other signs on terraces, traffic signs or any public property in the city.

City ordinance 14.20.040 states, "No person, firm or corporation shall place any sign upon, over in any public property."

Signs can cause problems for motorists, especially when placed at "vision triangles" near intersections. The fine for placing signs in a terrace is $263.

Call Janesville Police Sgt. Donohoue at (608) 755-3133 for more information.

And they should not let them block the whole street. Someday they have my street down to one lane. The one person has at least three sales a month. Really go open a second hand store. How come no one say anything about that.

Agreed! How are they exempt? And what about political signs? I see them in terrace areas all the time.

Apparently, realtors don't think this includes them. On weekends, their open house signs and balloons are all over the terraces at intersections.
