— A masked man used a knife to rob Shockwave Video, 1700 Center Ave., at 10:46 p.m. Tuesday, according to Janesville police.

The robber covered his face with a red bandana and pulled the hood of his black sweatshirt over his head, according to a police press release. He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. The clerk was unhurt.

Officers and a dog from the department’s K9 unit searched the area but didn’t locate the robber, Lt. Terry Sheridan said.

Shockwave Video was burglarized earlier this month and nearby Phillips 66, at 2006 Center Ave., was robbed March 17, Gazette records show.

“Police are looking into the incidents to see if they may be related or committed by the same robber,” Sheridan said.

Anyone with information about the crimes can call police at (608) 755-3100 or CrimeStoppers at (608) 756-3636. Callers to CrimeStoppers can remain anonymous and might be eligible for a reward.
