Two candidates are seeking the District 1 seat on the Brodhead City Council.

Teresa Withee

Age: 42

Address: 907 1st Center Ave.

Job: Full-time student, formerly an administrative assistant.

Education: Will graduate in May from Concordia University with a bachelor’s degree in business management

Community service: Brodhead Area EMS, including nine years as driver, currently EMS captain/billing officer, emergency management committee member.

Elected posts: None

Major campaign issues: Our focus needs to be on making informed, educated decisions that will benefit the community. We need to be fiscally responsible, especially during these difficult economic times. With my life experience and educational background, I feel I would bring a new perspective to help keep Brodhead strong.

Ric Genthe (I)

Age: 60

Address: 906 4th St.

Job: Owner of Ric Genthe & Associates advertising, graphic design and photography company.

Education: Associate degree from MATC, 1971.

Community service: Various city committees including economic development, buildings and grounds, personnel, sidewalk and forestry/arbor; former member of Brodhead Optimist Club, volunteered at Wildflower Art Festival, city of Brodhead branding and marketing campaign.

Elected posts: Brodhead City Council from 2007 to present

Major campaign issues: Budget shortfalls and jobs will be affecting Brodhead. Financially maintaining Brodhead’s excellent services means exploring all ideas to bring in businesses and jobs. Serving the city has given me the experience to understand how to reach out to potential new businesses. I take this job seriously because it affects so many good families.
