Top-ranked Whitefish Bay Dominican ended East Troy's hopes of a trip to the WIAA Division 3 state girls basketball tournament Thursday night with a 68-58 sectional semifinal victory at Waukesha West.

Dominican (25-0) built a 13-point advantage in the third quarter, lost the lead briefly in the fourth quarter, then pulled away late to advance.

Dominican meets Winnebago Lutheran (23-2), a 36-34 winner over second-ranked Columbus, in a sectional final at 1 p.m. Saturday at Waukesha West.

"They're unbelievable," said East Troy coach Jeff Brown, whose young team finished 21-4. "They're No. 1-rated for a reason. They're very fast, very skilled. Every time we made a run, they answered."

Andrea Olsen sank a three-point shot with about five minutes left in the fourth quarter to give East Troy a 52-51 lead, capping a comeback from a 45-32 deficit.

"They came right back down and scored," Brown said. "We had the lead for about five seconds."

Dominican outscored East Troy 21-13 in the fourth quarter.

"They just made more plays at the end," Brown said. "They had a last spurt."

Dilonna Johnson, a junior forward who already has verbally committed to play at Division I Drake, led the way for Dominican with 32 points. She sank all eight of her team's three-pointers.

Daysha Smith-Jenkins added 20 points and Mishayla Jones had 10 for Dominican.

Alicia Oleson led East Troy with 16 points, and Breanna Gaspervich had 12.

"I'm just proud of my kids," Brown said. "It just wasn't meant to be."
