Janesville Bluebirds’ Lindgren honored

Ron Lindgren’s first season with the Janesville Bluebirds was a successful one.

The Janesville Craig High School junior, who played two seasons with the Madison Capitals, has been named to the All-Big Eight Conference first team as a defenseman.

Middleton’s Todd Koritzinsky, who led the Cardinals to the WIAA championship game, has been named the Player of the Year.

Lindgren had 11 goals and seven assists for the Bluebirds—Janesville’s high school co-op team. Janesville finished 15-5-2 on the season, including a 10-3-1 record in the Big Eight and a third-place finish.

“Ron was a unanimous all-conference selection, so that means everybody else in our conference knew how good he was,” Janesville coach John Mauermann said. “There were times where Ron was the best player on the ice.

“He’s got good size for the position, and he’s a big strong kid that is also an excellent passer.”

Janesville’s Cody Iverson, a junior, has been named to the second team as a forward. Iverson led the Bluebirds in scoring with 33 points.
