— An Illinois man was sentenced to five years in prison followed by five years of extended supervision for the theft of $1.4 million from an elderly relative who lived in Walworth County.

Jason T. Larsen, 37, of Rockford, pleaded guilty last week

to one felony count of theft. He pleaded guilty to transferring lakefront property valued at $1 million to him and withdrawing $400,000 from the account of the woman who was in her 80s.

Larsen prepared the transfer documents himself and persuaded the woman to sign them, according to a criminal complaint. She moved into a Walworth County home with him. When the woman demanded the return of her money and property, he refused, according to the complaint. A hearing is set for March 29 at 10 a.m. before Walworth County Judge John Race to consider restitution.
