— The Rock County Sheriff’s Office arrested two women after discovering a large amount of heroin and other drug paraphernalia at a house on North Walnut Street.

Karlye L. Reid, 31, of 330 N. Walnut St., Janesville, was taken into custody on charges of possession with intent to deliver heroin, maintaining a drug trafficking place, and possession of drug paraphernalia. A court appearance is scheduled at 4 p.m. today.

Helena Cheri May Mattison, 309 Elliott St., Janesville, also was arrested at the scene for possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. She is scheduled to make an initial appearance on August 1.

The sheriff’s office’s Special Investigation Unit and detectives searched Reid’s home around noon Wednesday. They removed 64 individual packaged bags containing around 14 grams of heroin along with drug paraphernalia and cash, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

Rock County Sheriff’s Capt. Todd Christiansen said 14 grams was a significant amount of heroin to retrieve in one search. He added that it is a felony offense to possess any amount of heroin.
