— It’s time to tri, tri again.

The second annual Janesville Rock, Roll ‘n’ Run Triathlon is scheduled for Saturday, July 2.

The adult triathlon is a half-mile swim in the Rock River, 14-mile bike and 5-kilometer run. Adult registration is $60, and team fee is $100.

A new youth triathlon features a 200-yard swim, 4-mile bike race and 1-mile run. Youth registration is $35, and team registration is $45.

Both the adult and youth events begin and end at Traxler Park.

Registration must be completed online at www.active.com. The last day to register is July 1. There is no race-day registration.

Proceeds support the Fourth of July fireworks at Traxler Park, plus another community group to be determined.

Ben Ryan of Austin, Texas, was the 2010 overall winner in 1 hour, 4 minutes, 23 seconds. Lauren Jensen of Muskego was the overall female winner in 1:06.03.

Bill Gilmore was the top male finisher from Janesville in 1:08.34, and Emily Atkins was the top Janesville female finisher in 1:18.36.

Kitty Cole returns as race director for the second year and is directing her sixth triathlon overall. The inaugural 2010 race attracted 168 entrants.

“Being a triathlete, I know what racers are looking for,” Cole said. “They want good food at the end, a sharp t-shirt and a safe race.’’
