Five-run eighth sends Snappers past Cedar Rapids

— The winning ways continued Thursday night for the Beloit Snappers.

Beloit scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth in pulling away for a 7-2 win over Cedar Rapids in Midwest League baseball at Pohlman Field.

The Snappers have won nine of their last 10 games.

Clinton Dempster (3-2) picked up the win in relief, while Lance Ray had three hits and drove in two runs for the Snappers.

Beloit begins a three-game series at Western Division first-half champs Burlington Bees tonight.
