Pardeville beats the rain, other scores
The Bulldogs, who took out Orfordville Parkview’s Rock Valley South champions in last week’s sectional semifinals, used big seventh inning for the second straight game to reach the Division 3 state finals with a 6-5 win over Grantsburg.
Pardeeville’s victory was the last action before rain caused major delay on the second of three days in the tournament at Fox Cities Stadium. Winnebago Lutheran finally got a 7-6, eight-inning win over Coleman in the other Division 3 semifinal game, but the Division 2 semifinals were postponed until 8 a.m. today, creating a six-game schedule for the final day.
Nate Schmidt’s RBI single with two outs produced the winning run for Pardeeville (23-4) in the bottom of the seventh, capping a three-run rally that enabled the Bulldogs to overcome a 5-3 deficit against Grantsburg (21-4).
