WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on plans for surprising new roof on historic building

RSS

The Janesville Historic Commission is moving ahead with plans to put a new roof on the Lincoln Tallman House.

City of Janesville Manager of Building and Development Services Gale Price says the $150,000 project could begin as early as late July, and last until November.

The big surprise will a change in color to red. The roof has been its current color for more than a half century, but red is more likely historically accurate.

Somewhere someone has to have original pictures of the house and it's original color of the roof.
Further more, where can I sign up to re-roof the Tallman House for $150,000, as that figure is unbelievably high! If the city of Janesville's taxpayers are going to be on the hook for the re-roofing project, then Mr. Price had better get a few more estimates on the job. I personally know of a few different companies that could do it for a fraction of that cost!
