Janesville infielders shined this season in Big Eight Conference baseball.

Jameson Henning and Riley Quinn of Craig High join Parker’s Kyle Johnson were named all-conference first-team infielders.

Verona senior Ben Neumann, a Northern Illinois University recruit, is Player of the Year. Verona’s Brad D’Orazio, who led the Wildcats to the WIAA Division 1 state tournament, is Coach of the Year.

Johnson, a senior, led Parker with a .425 batting average and was the team’s No. 2 pitcher.

“Kyle improved each and every year on varsity,” Parker coach Brian Martin said. “And that is reflected in the fact that he went from honorable mention all-conference as a sophomore, to second team last year to the first team this year.

“He’s a very hard worker and really knows the game. His versatility really set him apart.”

Quinn put together a solid junior season. The second baseman hit .395 and was second on the team in hits (32), RBIs (22) and runs (21).

“Riley went above and beyond what was expected of him this season,” Craig coach Victor Herbst said. “He was one of the most diligent and hard-working kids we had in the off-season, and that paid off.”

Henning, a shortstop and Western Illinois University recruit, led the Cougars in almost every offensive category. The senior hit .427, including a team-high four home runs, 35 hits, 34 runs, 18 extra-base hits and a perfect 15-for-15 on stolen bases.

“Jameson’s a five-tool player,” Herbst said. “He made a few plays this season than nobody else in our league was capable of making. He’s got an electric arm.”

Parker senior Andy Kersten has been named to the second team as a pitcher, along with Craig senior outfielder Tom Yaucher. Craig senior Charlie Miller and Parker senior Jeff Henke have been named to the second team as designated hitters.

Craig senior catcher Charlie Meyer has received honorable mention, as has Parker senior outfielder Trent Kobs.
