Beloit Snappers collects two wins from Fort Wayne

— The Beloit Snappers got back to the .500 mark here Thursday.

Three Beloit pitchers held Fort Wayne to only three hits en route to a 3-0 win in the second game of Midwest League abbreviated doubleheader at Pohlman Field. Beloit won the first game, 11-8, after play was suspended Wednesday night with the Snappers leading 6-5.


Beloit, now 30-30 in the Western Division, won Wednesday’s suspended game with a three-run homer off the right-field foul pole in the bottom of the eighth inning.


In the second game, Michael Tonkin improved to 2-1 on the season by picking up the win in relief of Ryan O’Rourke. Thursday’s second game was seven innings.


Jose Gonzalez (3-1) picked up the win in relief in Game 1.


Beloit hosts the Lake County Captains in a three-game series beginning tonight.
