— This isn’t just a break for Echo the singing parrot.

It’s a break for the entire lakes region, Animal Gardens owner Dana Montana said.

Echo, a 15-year-old double yellow-headed Amazon parrot, will audition tonight on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.”

As summer kicks in, a local appearance on national television could inspire visitors to head to the Lake Geneva area, Montana said. Animal Gardens is located on Highway 50 between Delavan and Lake Geneva in Delavan Township.

Echo will appear on the show with his trainer, Sarah Hoeft. Both are star performers at Animal Gardens, Montana said. Hoeft also works as a horse trainer at Animal Gardens, which is home to the Dancing Horses Theater.

Echo is the most vocal of the attraction’s performing birds, according to a news release from Animal Gardens. He also sings four songs, one of which he will perform tonight on TV.

This is not Echo’s first appearance on national television, although it will be the national TV debut for Echo and Hoeft together, Montana said. The two have worked together for five years, the release states. The parrot also has appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Animal Planet.”

More recognition would be welcome, Montana said.

“We’d like to put that feather in our cap.”
